A beautiful verse from the Srimad Bhagavatam and Srila Prabhupada's explanation to the verse

I would like to share a beautiful verse from the Srimad Bhagavatam and Srila Prabhupada's wonderful explanation.

naiṣkarmyam apy acyuta-bhāva-varjitaṁ na śobhate jñānam alaṁ nirañjanam kutaḥ punaḥ śaśvad abhadram īśvare na cārpitaṁ karma yad apy akāraṇam

"Knowledge of self-realization, even though free from all material affinity, does not look well if devoid of a conception of the Infallible [God]. What, then, is the use of fruitive activities, which are naturally painful from the very beginning and transient by nature, if they are not used in the service of the Lord?" [SB 1.5.12]

Srila Prabhupada explains in his purport that even the highest form of knowledge — impersonal liberation — is incomplete without devotion to the Supreme Lord. The jnanis who pursue liberation without bhakti are compared to those who polish a bird cage without feeding the bird inside.

This verse beautifully establishes the supremacy of bhakti over all other spiritual paths. Whether one pursues knowledge (jnana), renunciation (vairagya), or fruitive action (karma), all of these are incomplete and even burdensome unless they are offered in the service of the Supreme Lord Krishna.

Let us therefore always keep Krishna at the center of all our activities and make our lives perfect by engaging everything in His loving service.
